yuma yamaguchi – “Beautiful Wasted Melody”

//

A creative fury of brass and brisk rhythms feel alive throughout “Beautiful Wasted Melody,” an inventive track whose aesthetic resembles a hypothetical Matthew Herbert and Ringo Sheena collaboration. The track comes via Japanese artist yuma yamaguchi, known for his works as a composer for movies, dramas, and commercials. The live-recorded big band born section is joined by Japanese rock singer Lovely Summer Chan, who effectively keeps up with the energetic, upbeat presentation. Drummer Shun Ishiwaka gives a standout performance, in particular. The track’s blending of jazz, soul, pop, and big band theatrics makes for a riveting, energetic sound throughout — sounding enjoyably chaotic in its progression.

“Beautiful Wasted Melody” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2021’ Spotify playlist.
