1st Base Runner – “All Thoughts”

A dark rocker with gothic pop inclinations, “All Thoughts” is a recent track from Austin TX-based solo artist 1st Base Runner, the project of Tim Husmann. The track comes via newly released album Seven Years of Silence. Ethereal, weightless twinkles and minimalist percussion expand quickly into guitars with a post-punk tint, with added synths during the “wake me up, girl,” section engrossing. The assortment of post-punk murkiness and synth-laden melodic turns provide for an engrossing listen throughout.

Husmann explains more about “All Thoughts” below:

“It was something that had to be made. I had tried to suppress the concepts and ideas explored in the 8 tracks for several years. It is my willingness to be vulnerable and laid bare before others in an attempt to glimpse some fundamental truths about what it means to be here and to be present. It is an exploration of expectations and shortcomings and how they in turn will make us all the more uniquely human. No one gets out with clean hands, not on this ride, and not in this lifetime.”

“All Thoughts” and other memorable tracks released in January can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.
