Sandra Iris – “I’m Trash”

/

Spanish artist Sandra Iris impresses with new track “I’m Trash.” Enjoyably navigating from unrequited yearning to cathartic confidence, Iris’ vocals exude a consuming Gwen Stefani-like vibe amidst an assortment of bird chirping, retro-minded guitars, and lush key-laden additions. The excellent chorus’ punctuation — “you might think I’m trash,” — succeeds with an emotive, atmospheric charm. The release, including lyrics in both English and Spnaish, was produced by LEIDAN.

Iris elaborates more on the track:

“‘I’m Trash’ is an ironic song. It tells the story of being in love with a friend, while they are in love with someone else. You feel like shit yes, but then you reach a cathartic point where you don’t give a fuck and you write this song making fun of you for being dramatic about this. It’s not the end of the world.”

“I’m Trash” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
