Ryan Fischer – “About the Future”

“About the Future” is a stylish rocker from Vancouver-based singer/songwriter Ryan Fischer. Suave vocals and a thumping rhythm section give way to charismatic guitar additions and a hooky vocal front that exudes confidence — “I’m not gonna hide from the future … I’m gonna find a solution.” The added enthusiasm in the chorus develops seamlessly from the smooth verses. Rather than seeing pessimism in the future ahead, the lyrics suggest a reason for optimism and perseverance, backed enjoyably by strong production and a convincing rock-forward sound.

Fischer created the track alongside producer Felix Fung and his partner Max Sample, comprising a live off-the-floor trio, with Fung playing drums and fuzz guitar, and Sample on bass and keys. “I had so much fun. And learnt a ton,” says Fischer of the studio experience. “I was really blown away by Felix and Max’s creative talent, their musicianship and the way put their hearts and souls into my songs. It was a wonderful collaboration. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

“About the Future” is one of several upcoming singles from the upcoming album, Commercials For Heaven, releasing throughout the summer and into the fall’s album release.

“About the Future”” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
