Blueanimal – ‘Figment That Was Me’

Orlando-based act Blueanimal recently released their third full-length album, Figment That Was Me, showing a varied blend of rock and alternative. The album was preceded by three music videos, nicely emphasizing the album’s sound. The most recent, “What Does It All Mean,” expands from solemn acoustics into a riveting anthemic stirrer. “Tell me what it means,” lead vocalist/guitarist and songwriter Luke Elms repeats throughout, ranging from somber understatement to ardent rock-forward intensity in the second half. The other preceding music videos also impress; “Rock Bottom” struts a dark rock sound with a consuming “I fell down,” chorus reminiscent of A Perfect Circle, while “On My Mind” succeeds with a similarly anthemic allure. Figment That Was Me is a recommended album for fans of heavier, darker alt-rock.
