Lazy Scorsese – “Medicine Man 2.0”

Minneapolis-based band Lazy Scorsese unveil a funky, synth-tinged sound with psychedelic intrigue throughout their track “Medicine Man 2.0.” The release is a spin on a previously released track, from 2016, “upgraded with a dance/funk makeover.” Netherlands-based artist paprikaworm created its music video, above.

Spacey synths bristle amidst the beginnings of a funky rhythm section, the suave vocals exuding a Talking Heads-like feel initially. Guitar flourishes and playful synths mingle into a catchy vocal hook around 01:45, also catching with an intense guitar turn around 02:35. “Medicine Man 2.0” blends funk, pop, and rock into a delightfully psychedelic convergence.

“Medicine Man 2.0” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2021’ Spotify playlist.
