Tenuous Threads – “Abduction”

A sprawling track that develops from quaint psych-friendly guitars into string-laden majesty, “Abduction” nicely showcases the songwriting abilities of Australian musician and producer Tenuous Threads. From the newly released debut EP Mettle, “Abduction” features an emotive vocal lead that channels a dark, industrial influence. Glistening guitars and sporadic string pulses converge as the vocals rise in intensity. Aesthetically, there’s a fond likeness to The Stone Roses at points. The “again!” vocal expression, approaching the two-minute mark, plays with an especially engaging vigor. A rousing guitar-based force closes things out with satisfaction. “Abduction” and the rest of Mettle is well worth checking out.
