Secret Vacation – “Weather”

//

“Weather” is a hazy delight from Secret Vacation, the project of Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Stephen Shapero. Sleepy guitars and vocals develop an intimate charm initially, as the entry of slight percussion coincides with additional guitar flutters as the vocals escalate emotively. Brassy adornments past the mid-point emerge steadily, intermingling beautifully with the lush vocals and hypnotic guitars. Surfy guitars and smooth brass combine for a delectable bridge in the final minute, helping bring the excellent “Weather” to a captivating close.

More on the track’s inspirations below:

“Weather” is inspired by relishing in the beautiful, outdoor world after a year of global hardship and solitude. We become our worst selves when we are locked indoors all day, something far too familiar to all of us after a year of lockdowns and social distancing. Whether it is alone, or with friends, “Weather” gently reminds us that it is okay to take time for ourselves, move slowly, and absorb the beauty found in some of the simplest things in life – existing and soaking in our environment.

“Weather” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2021’ Spotify playlist.
