Nils Bloch – “The Marsh”

//

“The Marsh” is a striking folk track from Berlin-based singer/songwriter Nils Bloch. Initial acoustical ruminations are joined by solemn vocals. “I loved her for the sun, shining down on everyone,” Bloch sings emotively amidst the trickling guitars. Past the one-minute mark, a break through the clouds appears via subtle piano and a vocal rise, “the searchlight over the marsh.” Backing textural additions in the final minute+ play with chilling effect. Bloch shows a commanding, impactful sound throughout “The Marsh.”

“The Marsh” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
