B’licious – “Creation”

Touting a darkly consuming sound with enjoyable trip-hop influence, “Creation” is a new track from London-based artist B’licious. Distant vocal effects and light piano complement front-and-center percussion to start, the vocals playing like an enigma in gradually becoming a more prominent presence. A haunting trickle of pianos and bass-heavier rhythm section emerge past the one-minute mark, the vocals possessing a haunting dreaminess to match. The vocals show impressive range, from cinematic soaring to quainter suaveness. Guitar tones and atmospheric organs integrate satisfyingly in the second half at points, the track gripping strongly with its idiosyncratic soundscape and standout production throughout.

The project is the moniker for Slovak singer/songwriter Barbora Patkova, also the vocalist of The Heliocentrics.

“Creation” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.
