Silo Hill – “Spinoff of the Knockoff of the Sequel to the Blues”

/

Silo Hill‘s latest album, Neither Here Nor There, caught our ears upon its release in October, and initially via the track “No, I Don’t Quite Know What You Mean,” strutting a theatrical rock sound with intriguing structural shifts. The rest of the album presents similar charms, and especially on the track “Spinoff of the Knockoff of the Sequel to the Blues.” The Wyoming-based artist opens the track asking “haven’t you heard the news?” — the accompanying guitars becoming quickly accompanied by chirpy adornments and a warming rhythm section. The guitar jangles complement range-friendly vocals, swapping seamlessly from suaveness and emotive jumps, like the “I don’t know, you don’t know,” refrain with a bright harmonica accompaniment. “Spinoff of the Knockoff of the Sequel to the Blues” is further indicative of the quality songwriting found throughout Neither Here Nor There.
