Victoria Dodson – “Homesick”

//

“Homesick” is a haunting, intimate track from Victoria Dodson. Casting a ghostly glow with its ruminating guitars and ethereal vocals, “Homesick” delivers an aesthetic beauty reminiscent of Marissa Nadler. “Homesick for you,” Dodson repeats in the second half, hypnotizing with a captivating yearning and especially as the pulsing guitars and percussive pitter-pattering emerge in the final minute. The structural, folk-friendly build also recalls Fleet Foxes fondly, especially as the wordless vocals meander past the one-minute mark like a warming wordless hymnal. “Homesick” entrances with ease.

Presently based in Laval, Quebec and originally from West Virginia, Dodson shows ample promise with these newly released tracks; “Homesick” and “Opaline” both consume with their dreamy folk sound.

“Homesick” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2022’ Spotify playlist.
