Ad Vanderveen – “Following the Wind”

First catching our ears last June with the track “Release,” Amsterdam-based singer/songwriter Ad Vanderveen is poised for another successful year with his new album, Candle to You. The album boasts a variety of highlights, from the plucky orchestral folk stirrings of the opening “Do What You Love” to the dual-vocal traditional folk of “Miss That World,” reminding of Bob Dylan. Among my favorites on the album is “Following the Wind,” touting a Neil Young-esque allure with the string-laden undercurrents and haunting vocals. Twangy guitars approaching the two-minute mark give way to escalating vocals, captivating through a series of soaring guitar twangs.
