Arnab Sengupta – “This Way”

Sydney-based artist Arnab Sengupta creates a passionate blend of styles throughout his third album, Leap of Faith. Showcasing a meditative sound inspired by life experience and an eclectic musical appreciation, Sengupta seamlessly integrates prog-rock, jazz, blues, and more throughout the eight tracks with stimulating allure.

The album boasts a number of especially captivating efforts, including the self-titled cut. The vocals tout a moving, passionate quality reminiscent of Manic Street Preachers, amidst expressive guitars that center around the title-referencing refrain. The track soars especially in the second half, with the consuming refrain and electrifying guitar accompaniments. On the more mellow spectrum, “This Way” succeeds amply. Lush organ spurts and a suave bass line concoct a funky allure, as mysterious vocals enter the fold. Jazzy guitar licks and escalating vocals enthuse throughout, driving into a finale with full-band, jazz-inspired fervency.
