Prince Bishop – “Roman Roads”

Touting a melodic rock sound with psych inspirations, “Roman Roads” is a recent track from Prince Bishop, a band from Durham, England. Hazy guitar tones and wordless vocals lend a haunting feels as the percussion accelerates into melodic guitar distortion, opening the track with vigor. The emergent vocals tout an emotive, captivating quality while remaining relatively understated in the verses, comparative to the expressive vocal soaring in the bridge to the title-referencing hook. The sound compares favorably to nostalgic alt-rock in the vein of Suede, Manic Street Preachers, and Foo Fighters. The guitar-based build around 02:30 plays with dexterous appeal, resonating fully and emitting an anthemic power as the vocal expressions re-emerge. “Roman Roads” is a powerful, hooky rocker from Prince Bishop.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.
