small pockets – “heads or tales”

/

“heads or tales” is a dreamy track from Atlanta-based artist small pockets. The production captures a warmness inherent in the laid-back guitars and keys, the lyrical references to Capri Suns and Jumanji adding a loving nostalgia to the mix. Remarks like “now our heart’s grown cold,” seems to suggest the inevitability of aging. Serene guitar trickles craft an inviting opening, as percussion joins alongside a more gliding tonal character. The anthemic concluding section — “Let’s pack up our toys / Go home to Figaro,” — resonates with a triumphant fervor, as the synths glisten with force. “heads or tales” is a moving, melodic success from small pockets.

The track releases alongside the exceptional claymation video above, a collaboration from small pockets and legendary animators Lee and Eliška Oz of Animation OZ.
