Spencer Elliott – “There’s Something in the Airlock”

/

Captivating in January with “Torque,” the lead single from upcoming album SE3 (out April 8th), Spencer Elliott previews more of the album with “There’s Something in the Airlock.” The new single and accompanying video show further strengths from the West Virginia-based artist, alongside Sean Sydnor (bass) and Chris Hudson (drums).

“There’s Something in the Airlock” excels on Elliott’s finger-style roots, resulting in a melodically stimulating sound bolstered by the impressive rhythm section, really kicking into gear at the 43-second mark. Lingering guitar textures past the two-minute mark lend a rhythmic chiming effect that immerses, the bass/guitar interplay exuding a funky vigor alongside Hudson’s steady percussion. “Torque” and “There’s Something in the Airlock” have me firmly anticipating SE3 on April 8th.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2022’ Spotify playlist.
