Spirits of Leo – “Patience”

/

NYC band Spirits of Leo deliver a gorgeous post-punk sound on their new track “Patience.” Nocturnal guitar trickles and a clanging bass line concoct a darkly romantic soundscape; the guitar line at the 30-second mark reminds of New Order. “Pushing forward to a dream, never waking for reprieve,” the yearning opening vocals let out, echoing drive and motivation even in spite of “exhaustion, doubt, and dismissal.” The resonating chorus — “having patience now, and learning from my haste,” — gradually escalates with wintry guitar tones and retrospective lyrics, consuming with its dark ardency and convincing post-punk fervor.

The track comes via the band’s upcoming Gossamer Blue LP and cassette, releasing soon on à La Carte Records.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
