DRCY – “Small Talk”

//

Strutting a hooky sound that melds pop infection with R&B suaveness, “Small Talk” is a new single from DRCY, an artist who splits her time between London and Liverpool. Produced with Vince Garcia (Driza Bone/EMI), the track’s swift strings and bouncy keys adorn DRCY’s enthralling vocal presence, confidently balancing soulful poise and pop-friendly energy.

The opening, title-referencing hook dazzles and quickly falls into a funky build-up; the rhythm section and sporadic piano builds seductive momentum here. “It’s just you and me alone,” she sings invitingly, “I don’t make the rules, I only go and break them.” The strings enamor alongside the full arsenal of instrumentation and passionate vocal layers, the woodwinds emerging as the tequila kicks in. The track’s finale consumes with dramatic piano-fronted allure, sending off a thorough pop success.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
