Mount Saint Elias – “Light of Day”

/

Exuding an anthemic folk sound, “Light of Day” is a stirring track from Mount Saint Elias, a project fronted by singer/songwriter Joey Coe, and including collaborators Luna Fuentes, Josiah Johnson (The Head and The Heart), Matteo Lovik, and KC Van der Zee. Produced by two-time Grammy nominee Jeff Kolhede, the track incorporates soul, folk, and jazz-pop within its colorful arsenal.

Warming dual-vocal charm and brassy adornments intertwine melodically with the backing acoustical strums, the vocal shift at 02:16 proving especially striking amidst the swaying brass. This section’s subdued yet emotive nature contrasts enjoyably from the excitable pace of the peppier “leave my mind,” verses. “Light of Day” is a satiating, melodic success from Mount Saint Elias.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
