“Flyer” is a consuming single from Bristol-based saxophonist and composer Oli Morris. The track was inspired by Morris’ Californian roots, embracing nostalgia in its smooth brass-forward unveiling. Morris also features on Emilie Sande’s new album, Let’s Say For Instance.

Tender guitar twangs accompany a smooth bass line to start, the lounge-friendly soundscape enhanced further by glistening keys. The saxophone’s comforting glow emerges thereafter, alongside a trickling undercurrent of guitars. The late-night soundscape finds brightness just past the two-minute turn, where more enthusiastic brass lines and a backing shimmering expand with warmer inclinations. Lingering brass and playful percussion end the track with a spontaneous, refreshing pull. “Flyer” is an invigorating, bustling treat from Oli Morris.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
