ROJAZ – “Unwind”

Led by intoxicating rhythms inspired by the UK dance scene, ROJAZ‘s “Unwind” is a moody, hypnotic electronic pop track. The London-based artist opens with a textural lushness, propelled by whisper-y backing vocals throbbing synths. “I like the way you feel,” she sings upon the enhancement of bass, resonating with meditative allure alongside the pulsing synths. “Naturally need you with me,” the vocals rise, driving to the infectious “unwind with me,” refrain, which distorts the vocals with replay-inducing appeal.

The track was released via Here & Now Recordings, and represents the first single from ROJAZ’s upcoming EP, In The Morning. You can find ROJAZ on TikTok and Instagram.

The music video for “Unwind,” above, captures ROJAZ’s dance background, and inspiration via “the use of colours in modern art and by photographers like Jake Wagner.”

“‘Unwind’ depicts that almost deliriously ecstatic stage of first falling in love,” ROJAZ says. “When all the colours seem brighter and you feel like everything is full of possibilities. Due to the instrumentation and ‘ecstatic’ feel I knew I wanted the video to have a dance scene, mix in visual elements associated with club scenes, and have some darker undertones. I asked myself; if love was a drug what would it look and feel like.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
