Tarli – “Heaven Sent”

“Heaven Sent” is an eerily consuming hip-hop single from Tarli, the Saint Paul-based artist formally known as eL.i.Be. Produced by and featuring Wes., “Heaven Sent” rides on spacey synth glistening and bass-y pulses. The ensuing vocals exude suavely confident qualities, the responsive vocal effects reminding fondly of the production on Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80 and Shabazz Palaces.

The track’s sporadic bass pulses and enveloping synths enable the spotlight to shine on the vocal performances, the “hands in the halo,” hook standing out especially. A ceaselessly driving track with a ghostly soundscape, “Heaven Sent” is a surefire success from Wes. and Tarli.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
