Flaw Lust – “Misplaced”

/

A new track from San Diego-based project Flaw Lust, “Misplaced” shows a gripping post-punk sound with lush vocals and atmospheric saxophones. Led by longtime collaborators Michael Buehl and Cara Potiker, Flaw Lust recently released their debut album, Seek/Hunt, recorded at Potiker’s recording studio.

Among the album’s highlights, “Misplaced” touts a fully memorable soundscape. The murky bass line and subtle key flourishes drive to an aptly nonchalant vocal delivery. The saxophone creeps in with a mysterious vigor, easing in alongside the ghostly vocal escalation. The steadily rhythmic intensity here also sends chills, further enhanced during the bustling final minute. “I will not lose control again,” the vocals let out here, capturing the track’s darkly brooding sound into a satiating finale with keys, saxophone, and guitars converging memorably.
