Jadamarie – “Love??”

Los Angeles-based artist Jadamarie charms throughout the lush lo-fi pop track “Love??” — centering around the “what can I do, to make love true?” beckoning. The vocalist, producer, pianist, and guitarist excels with an atmospheric pop sound on the track, which was recorded and produced by Jadamarie in her apartment.

Lyrically about “being confused after a breakup,” “Love??” begins with an excitable piano arpeggio and yearning, wordless vocals. A warming bass effect complements the trickling keys as Jadamarie’s lush vocals emerge, lamenting a relationship’s deterioration. The backing vocal effect during the “what can I do,” emphasis plays hauntingly, perked up by the tropical key-laden glistening rounding the 01:30 mark. The intermingling vocals and effervescent keys converge here and throughout for a delightful, melodic result.

Jadamarie elaborates more on the track’s creative process, below:

“I remember the day I finished writing this song like it was yesterday. I was laying in my bed after a long day in the heart of Los Angeles. I started to question the universal concept of love and if I was ever going to experience that feeling again after being heartbroken. And that’s when a light bulb went off in my head. What if I turned my pain and uncertainty into a lighthearted melody? While I was making the beat, I was influenced by the sounds of lofi and indie hip-hop. I wanted this song to feel like a warm lullaby with a throbbing beat underneath. The message that I want to spread through my music is that you don’t always have to hold misery in your heart. You can turn it into musical joy.”
