Juventud – “Slow No Wake”

//

“Slow No Wake” is a new track from Toronto-based artist Juventud, the project of Felipe Godoy Diaz, originally from Chile. Pulsing guitar jangles and a suave bass line complement Diaz’s vocals, bolstered by added guitar twangs as the lyrics yearn for a slowing-down in life. The ensuing verses, heavy on the bass line, is adorned by the melodic guitar shimmers as the vocals express hope for finding glory years.

Past the two-minute turn, the pulsing guitars and reflective bass craft a hypnotic conclusion. The dreamy, jangly textures envelop into a steady percussive snare and lingering bass line, capping the memorable track in satiating form.

“The song is about the anxious feeling of life passing you by and the pressure of trying and failing to forcefully stop it,” Juventud says. “It was inspired and interpolates Juvenile “Slow Motion” and the Pixies “I Bleed.””

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2022’ Spotify playlist.
