PUSH – “Gubby”

//

“Gubby” is the impressive debut single from Tulsa-based band PUSH. The track’s hazy, subdued vocal delivery consumes amidst both serene guitar trickles and bursts of wailing distortion. The uptick in backing distortion around the two-minute mark, leading into the “just tell me it’s alright,” refrain, stands out especially.

A lush, heavenly synth envelops through a satiating conclusion, complemented by a submerged, melancholic vocal touch. “Gubby” impresses with its range of heavy rock fervency and dreamy, atmospheric beauty, set alongside lyrics that — per the band — “explore the inner-dialogue of letting go of love, and reminding oneself firmly that in the end, it’s gonna be alright.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
