the FamiliaR IntercoursE of SocietY – “Brutes@barbarian”

/

“Brutes@barbarian” is an intriguing new single from the FamiliaR IntercoursE of SocietY, the Amsterdam-based collaboration of longtime friends Gish and Ilja Reijngoud. Gish’s multi-instrumentalist work in various bands converges with Ilja’s talents as a professional jazz trombone player, resulting in a darkly intoxicating track with late-night allure.

Described by the duo as “a raw song about free and boundless minds chasing the elusive unknown,” “Brutes@barbarian” engrosses with its suave guitar distortion, horn-laden atmospherics, and hypnotic percussion. The brassy envelopment approaching the two-minute presents with ample momentum, especially upon the synth arp’s emergence amidst the eerie, shadow-y vocal turn. Full of dimly lit mystique, “Brutes@barbarian” is a stirring accomplishment from the FamiliaR IntercoursE of SocietY.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2022’ Spotify playlist.
