Latchy – “Girl”

/

A vibrant pop success with playful synth flourishes and melodic guitars, “Girl” showcases the breezy sound of Latchy, an Australian artist based in Singapore. The track’s natural flow and outpouring lyrical passion emits a spontaneous allure, also reflected in the release’s creative process. “I went from finding the main riff on guitar sitting on my couch to having a finished song within a couple of hours,” Latchy says.

Alongside longtime collaborator Jack Arentz, Latchy shows well throughout “Girl.” Tender guitars accompany an initially understated vocal presence, going through a series of lamenting questions. “I wanna be there with you, I wanna hold you hand,” he lets out, the glimmering keys leading into a warbled synth bounce alongside after-dark yearning. “Girl” exudes a fresh, polished production and instantaneous melodic charm.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2022’ Spotify playlist.
