Laura Lang – “Black Sedan”

//

An intimate and moving success from Memphis-based singer/songwriter Laura Lang, “Black Sedan” is the first single from her upcoming EP, Bad Luck, out this fall. The track evolves from a serene folk-forward engagement into a riveting rock sound, exuding ample ’90s alt-rock nostalgia in its final minute.

Creaky guitars adorn a solemn vocal presence to start, remarking “when I look at you, I don’t feel a thing.” The lyrics speak eloquently to a sense of solitude, though also confidently confronting change that’s ultimately for the best. Produced by Colin Pastore and Jake Finch, the track plays with a seamlessly evolving charm. Tender guitar twangs emerge amidst minimalist percussion, driving to a satiating finale with bursting guitars. “Black Sedan” is a stellar single from Laura Lang.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2022’ Spotify playlist.
