Kevian Kraemer – “Sweater”

//

Impressing with its dexterous pop/punk escalation, “Sweater” is a new track from Kevian Kraemer, a multi-instrumentalist from Asbury Park, NJ. Earning millions of plays via his TikTok, where he performs cover songs, Kraemer’s original songwriting now stands out with the hooky “Sweater.”

Gentle, chiming guitar trickles craft a lushly hypnotic pull initially. Swipes of guitar distortion excel alongside the intensifying vocals, the “stay up talking back and forth,” sequence marking continued invigoration into the anthemic uptick past the one-minute turn. The melancholic, swooning vocals and sleepy guitar tones generate an anthemic sound from the initial quaintness, reminding fondly of Last Dinosaurs. The hooky track is capped off by a Strokes-esque guitar sequence. “Sweater” is a melodic winner from Kevian Kraemer.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2022’ Spotify playlist.
