Premiere: Mauger – “A Mindless Move”

/

Released today from Belgian act Mauger, the entrancing “A Mindless Move” develops from understated emotion into a gorgeously soaring yearning. The track comes from the band’s forthcoming full album, out on October 7th.

Per the band, the track “describes the uncertainties and restlessness of moving on, while you actually just want to push the replay button.”

A moving production, “A Mindless Move” was recorded live at Boma Studios by Frederik Segers. Ethereal vocals, creaky guitars, and touches of marimba craft an intimate opening. The ensuing “it’s four in the morning,” vocal emotion plays with heart-tugging qualities, the “so tired and uncertain,” emitting a poignant relatability that plays chillingly amidst the gentle piano pulsing. The final minute presents an especially consuming series of vocal harmonizing and chamber-pop sophistication, closing this beautiful track on a strong note.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2022’ Spotify playlist.
