YONAH – “Bad Dreams”

/

“Bad Dreams” is a stylish slice of understated pop from YONAH, the NYC-based project of Yonah Taragin. Written in the early morning hours, “Bad Dreams” captures the feeling of unsettling, dark thoughts tending to permeate, amidst a lushly engaging backdrop of guitars and keys.

The initial lyrical reflections, bemoaning a bad day, play entrancingly amidst a lush guitar line and subtly escalating rhythms. “I don’t really have a clue where I belong,” the vocals let out, traversing seamlessly into the title-referencing hook. Here, smooth guitars and glistening key-laden mellowness converge with a melodic vocal lead for a replay-inducing spell. “Bad Dreams” is a moody, reflective quality showing from YONAH.

The artist elaborates on the track:

“”Bad Dreams” is the beginning of a new era for my music. It’s one of the first full songs I produced and am very excited to put it out in the world. I made it while living with my friend in a hotel abroad when I started having dreams about my past relationships. One night I woke up around 3am, grabbed my acoustic, and wrote the song in an hour. I woke up the next day, started tracking it, and over the course of a couple weeks “Bad Dreams” was done. This song has inspired me to write more on the dark side of my thoughts and I have an ep coming soon based on those thoughts. This is my 5th release as an independent artist and my best yet. Would love to hear feedback and support back in any way I can.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2022’ Spotify playlist.
