“Wake Up” is a melodic single from iHATEJON, an artist from North Carolina. Jangly guitars and mellow key twinkles complement a fervent vocal delivery, capturing “the feeling of being fed up, sick and tired of being sick and tired.”

The introductory sounds of bird-chirping, tender guitar twangs, and lush synths make for an easy-going awakening. The vocals emerge with a stream-of-conscious feeling. “Quit my job and ran away, like they don’t need me anyway,” signals a backing vocal caressing, adding a hooky dreaminess and psych-pop allure to the mix. The echoing, title-referencing backing vocals wholly entrance alongside the jangly guitars. The track deftly balances fluid pop energy with dreamy retrospection.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2022’ Spotify playlist.
