BARCLAY’S – “hello…!?”

//

A devastating late-night rocker exploring the fragility of relationships, “hello…!?” is a new track from Louisville-based artist BARCLAY’S. Creeping guitars and melancholic vocals tout a nocturnal, spacious production fondly reminiscent of King Krule. “It don’t help that I’m drunk,” the vocals confess into the escalating guitars, with the “was it that love was a game for you?” hook delivering a spine-chilling resonance. “hello…!?” plays like a yearning confessional after a late night out, in the best way possible.

The artist elaborates on the track’s inspirations:

“It’s a song about last year. I made a mistake and nearly jeopardized my sweetest, longest-term relationship. Pain and insecurity slowly bled in the aftermath, and I realized how precious romance can be. I wrote this song shortly after as a letter to myself on the sanctity of love and as a reminder of the foolishness that can uproot a relationship overnight. It’s in stark contrast musically and lyrically to my previous debut single “comatose.” I intend on using this single to establish my versatility.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.
