Homebody – “Paper Grasshopper”

/

Its chilled-out rock sound and “Autumn’s on her way,” lyrical sequence proving apt for the season, “Paper Grasshopper” is a recent track from Homebody. Comprised of three friends living throughout the United States who began the project during the pandemic’s beginnings, Homebody show well throughout the suavely intoxicating “Paper Grasshopper.”

“Paper Grasshopper” builds with a mellow enticement. Gentle, jazzy guitar flourishes ease into shuffling percussion and halted vocals. “Shape your mind before it tapers off,” Wyatt sings during the serene rise, where twangy guitar gestures and more vibrant percussion appear momentarily. A reflective vocal backing during the “Write, Draw, Bleed,” sequence adds a psych-friendly charm, lending to the satisfying and blues-tinged finale.

The project elaborate on the track:

“This song is part of a project written between three friends at the start of the global shutdown. At the time, each of us was living across the United States, stretching from the Pacific Northwest to the Southwest, and up to the Northeast. It was a great time to connect and make something over the two years that reestablished our relationships in such a broken time. We are so excited and thankful to put it out with help from our friends and loved ones.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.
