Cloudy Summer Days – “Ardor”

/

Meshing post-punk rhythms with a sweetly melodic pop sound, “Ardor” is a memorable new single from Los Angeles-based artist Cloudy Summer Days. Fleeting guitar jangles and hazy synths lead into a lushly restrained vocal lead, prancing amidst a sonar-like key twinkling. A nocturnal pull is apparent in the comforting rhythmic familiarity and warming bass tones — setting up for an ideal night-driving accompaniment.

The initial sound is propelled by a husky bass clanging and steady percussion. Guitars and synths follow with seamless engagement, setting up for vocals that play with stylistically apt longing. The track’s atmospheric allure shines through with special prominence at the mid-point, when the vocals fade and the guitar/synth interplay shines with effervescence.

“I made this song thinking about how it feels to think about someone at certain hours of the night,” the artist says.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
