R. F. Coleman – “Crazy For You”

Australian artist R. F. Coleman captivates with the stylish pop success “Crazy For You,” following up his debut single “I Couldn’t Trust.” Eerily suave keys and charismatic vocals lead an enticing arsenal throughout the track, touted as “a feel-good sing-along, to remind you of whatever it is you’re crazy for.”

The murky bass line and brassy mystique makes for compelling initial verses, atmospherically feeling like a midnight jaunt down New Orleans streets. The title-touting chorus brings forth chilly keys, resonating alongside the commanding vocals for a production reminiscent of Gorillaz. An expressive spoken-word sample at the two-minute turn excels into the hook as well, proving magnetic with its infectious vocal refrain and atmospheric key-forward prancing.

Based on his first two singles, I’m excited to hear what’s next from this Melbourne-based artist.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
