Roma NYC – “Gone for U”

“Gone For U” is a passionate new single from Brooklyn-based act Roma NYC, the solo project of Andrew Francini. Raised in Orange County and exceling in classical piano — competing on a state level as an accomplished pianist from ages 5 to 15 — Francini’s new release leans toward an emotive meshing of folk and lo-fi rock.

The track entrances with its hypnotic acoustical pulse and creaky piano additions, set alongside the contemplative vocals. The “she says,” vocal refrain finds comfort amidst lush acoustics, touting the track’s dynamic structural knack in the first minute. A haunting synth-laden addition past the one-minute turn adds further atmospheric depth, with the chilly emotions reminding of fellow Brooklyn act Grizzly Bear.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
