Ava McCoy – “From Me”

/

Enthralling with soaring rock valleys and intimate folk-laden trickling alike, “From Me” is a resonating new track from NYC singer/songwriter Ava McCoy. “I can’t seem to find my way,” the vocals drive into a rousing burst of guitars. “I can’t breathe, I can’t see,” lets out, signaling a clever shift into more a folk-friendly sound from the initial rousing rock fervency.

The dynamic rock/folk traversing is reminiscent aesthetically of Japanese Breakfast. To finish, the concluding refrain plays with sincere, captivating qualities, capping off the stellar “From Me” with strong resonance.

McCoy elaborates on the track’s formative process:

“I wrote this song during the pandemic in my dad’s basement, just me and a bass. The song poured out and I released the initial voice memo on a side project of mine, Baker Collective. My friends told me I should record it as a full song, so I did, and it got some attention on Tiktok once I shared it. “From Me” has changed my life, and it’s a meeting place for my americana-folk background and recent rock influences.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2023’ Spotify playlist.
