Mysterious guitar twangs lead into a subdued vocal presence, with the jangling guitars and steady percussion assembling a hypnotic mix. Lyrics address “themes of hyper-masculinity and ‘girls on drugs,'” fading at a murky ambient mid-section prior to the initial jangle-pop exterior’s re-emergence, showing shades of pop-punk. An eclectic and atmospheric success, “ITCHIN’ OUT” has me anticipating what’s next from Jean Orange.
