Freedom Fry – “If the World Was Mine”

/

A superbly melodic, breezy delight from the duo Freedom Fry, “If the World Was Mine” is described as “a feel-good yet slightly bittersweet song about living in an imagined ideal world.” The married duo — comprising “French girl Marie Seyrat and American boy Bruce Driscoll,” — will also be releasing several French-speaking tracks in the coming months.

As for “If the World Was Mine,” the track touts a weightless, hooky enamoring throughout with its bouncy piano, classic-minded guitar twangs, and harmonious dual-vocal entrancement. “I wish I had a beautiful life, I wish had a little more time,” the opening lyrics muse, building alongside sporadic piano bursts into the blissful chorus — “I know that if the world was mine, this time would only shine.” The track is a memorable piece of songwriting and production, fit for escapism as we witness the chaotic world around us.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2023’ Spotify playlist.
