Gorus – “Bartleby”

/

Exuding a haunting dreamy, hypnotic rock sound, “Bartleby” is a new track from Gorus, the Los Angeles-based project of Ethan Tyrer. Previously playing under the name Anima until 2022, Tyrer continues his eclectic reach with Gorus, spanning from psychedelic rock to jazz and electronic. A twangy, contemplative initial pull develops with tactful, melodic appeal, with “Bartleby” evolving grippingly thereafter.

Beckoning, wordless vocal emotion emerges past the two-minute mark, complemented by intermittent rises of guitar-laden intensity. This sections wholly captivates, especially upon the heavy wave of clanging acoustics and electric textural engrossment. The grandiose, anthemic feeling here gives way to a quainter final minute, fading into a mellow, hypnotic glow with satiating qualities.
