Paul Oneto – “Equinox”

/

A beautiful preview of Paul Oneto’s forthcoming album Strange, “Equinox” conjures chills with its introspective lyrics and emotive folk/rock intertwining. The track captures the transition from youth’s hopeful aspirations to adulthood’s stark realizations, particularly the “embrace of life’s truths at the equinox of life.”

A hazy, lush entrancement builds to the moving “I’ve had my fears,” vulnerability, the heartfelt sequence reminding fondly of Christopher Owens’ work. The upright feeling bass and acoustical trickles lend a chilly component to the “share my sorrows with the crowds,” verses, adding further to the sense of solitude and atmosphere. Contemplative verses glide into the passionate escalations with seamless, melodic qualities. I’m looking forward to hearing further from Oneto and the upcoming Strange LP.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2023’ Spotify playlist.
