Summer Bedhead – “Black Hole”

/

Denver-based band Summer Bedhead stirs with a dynamic rock engrossment on “Black Hole,” impressing in both its contemplative dreaminess and distortion-forward fuzz. They describe the single as “about the inner versus outer world when you’re trying to act more okay than you are — the mask versus the inner chaos.”

The quainter verses drive with fervent captivation into the “take me back home,” vigor, consuming with the nostalgic, distortion-heavy rock sound. “My eyes are sore and I’m leaning more toward the black hole in my mind,” makes for an apt precursor, capturing a sense of growing unease that the swelling instrumentation aligns beautifully within.

The urge to “climb the rooftops, start to shout it,” is satiated by the growling guitar work and soaring vocal pleas, as the final minute presents a spine-chilling pull with its yelping vocal invigoration and fuzzy guitar embrace.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2023’ Spotify playlist.
