Halfspace – “Waiting”

///

“Waiting” is an atmospheric success from Halfspace, a Coventry, UK-based project whose dreamy fusing of folk and pop fully compels. Trickling acoustics and lush keys combine with calming vocals for an enticing aesthetic, drawing comparisons to The Clientele’s serenely elegant sound.

“I’ve been waiting all my life for someone like you,” the vocals admit during the second half, resonating with a ghostly backing reflection into the wordless vocal mystique. Here, the chilly acoustical arpeggio and “I’ve been waiting,” refrain converge for a spine-chilling result.

The track thoroughly succeeds in atmospherically capturing “the elegance of the early morning hours,” — whilst lyrically illustrating “a picture of someone watching their partner in the morning light, admiring their beauty, and feeling grateful to have them in their life.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
