Yan Simon – “Pause”

/

Toronto-based artist Yan Simon crafts an emotive, grounding success with “Pause,” a track that stands out particularly with its powerful vocal outpouring and atmospheric spaciousness.

The track balances piano-laden balladry with hypnotic textures; a beautiful production results. A stirring soundscape grips with lyrics that explore “the destructive force of the ego.” Alongside producer Dima Graziani, Yan Simon unveils a stirring tour-de-force with “Pause.”

A serene, bouncy piano enamors as Simon’s crisp vocals emerge. “The rhythm of our hearts is fighting a battle,” the vocals let out. “I put my ego on pause and I place your heart above,” sends chills as gorgeous vocal harmonizing emerges. The track’s steady escalation compels, culminating in a soaring vocal glistening in the final minute. “Pause” plays with a genuine, vulnerable outpouring amidst a beautifully constructed melodic journey, propelled by piano, elegant vocal harmonizing, and atmosphere.

Yan Simon expands upon the track’s inspirations:

“”Pause” is a song I wrote about my own faults and its dedicated to anyone who is going through the process of becoming a better person and partner. The ethereal and psychedelic production is designed to transport you while the lyrics are meant to touch and ground you. I’ve been performing this song live as an acoustic piano version and it’s received great feedback from the audience.”
