Andrea Obscura – “Pool of Blue”

/

Philippines-based artist Andrea Obscura delivers a lush dream-pop enamoring on “Pool of Blue,” described as conveying “what it’s like to struggle and live with a pervasive and all-consuming sadness.”

Glistening synths inject gorgeously upon the “quiet pool of blue,” line, as understated guitar jangles continue to engross. An aquatic-minded synth tone adds further to the atmospheric dreaminess, culminating in the blast of jangly guitars past the two-minute turn. “I don’t wanna die, I just think about it all the time,” the vocals admit, capturing a state of melancholy though also a will to keep pushing forward. “Pool of Blue” is a lushly entrancing success from Andrea Obscura.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
