Bashlow – “Parliaments”

/

Tales of past loves and translucent relationships enamor on the hooky pop success “Parliaments,” a single from Los Angeles-based artist Bashlow. Bouncy instrumentation and conversational vocals escalate into striking shifts, exuding a graceful meshing of piano and strings into a further infectious pulse. Twinkling mystery and confident vocal-fronted spells impress alike.

The introduction grips from the get-go. A clanging energy — led by piano and bass — complements a confident vocal presence, with a matter-of-fact lyrical prowess. “She took the notion like a joke, asked me where we could catch a smoke,” builds into the elegantly haunting “just the vodka talking,” adoration. Glimpses of strings add a luxurious tint to the grimy primary bounce and eerie piano trickles. “Parliaments” is a no-doubt pop success from Bashlow.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
