Mikey Demilio – “Lukewarm Lover”

//

A laid-back production detailing an on-the-road mishap, “Lukewarm Lover” is a new track from Mikey Demilio, a songwriter from New Jersey who’s based in Nashville, Tennessee.

“My car’s underwater,” Demilio laments amidst twangy guitars and slight percussive taps, driving into a weep-y, melodic captivation into the “put her on a magazine cover,” hook. The simultaneous conveying of losing a car/home and a lover proves compelling amidst this dreamy, guitar-fronted production and lush vocal delivery, conveying they’re “just trying to get by,” even in face of this unfortunate tumult.

Demilio elaborates on the track’s backstory:

“A song about my car going underwater after an open mic out in Leipers Fork, TN. A very country side type place outside Nashville along with losing one a lover I met when I first moved to Nashville from New Jersey. The car that went underwater was the car I was living in on the road. Song recorded in Savahnnah, TN with a good friend of mine Parker Forbes in his Shed studio out in the country.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
